What makes Gamma Eta special?
The unique and varying backgrounds of our sisters, the commitment we have with our community to give back both with our time and financially. We pride ourselves in that 97.3% of our sisters nationwide have graduated from a four year institution. We are women of distinction, class, vision and integrity. We are also strong and believe in persevering no matter how difficult the challenge may be. We relish in our bonds of sisterhood no matter the distance, and are conscious that we are the components of Gamma Eta but our sisterhood is bigger than all of us. Our pillars of excellence guide us and make us respected members of the Greek community, our campuses, and our local communities. It is that pursuit of excellence, involvement, and diversity that makes a Gamma Eta woman truly special.
What is the difference between traditional Panhellenic sororities and Multicultural ones?
While not all multicultural fraternal organizations are the same, there are a few general factors that differentiate them from their mainstream counterparts. The most prevalent difference is the focus on culture and diversity. As a multicultural organization we believe in the celebration of different cultures, whether they be racial, ethnic or religious. Another difference is the size of our organizations. For the most part, multicultural organizations have smaller chapters (number of members at a school) compared to traditional Greek letter organizations. Gamma Eta believes that sisterhood bonds are stronger and shared with everyone in the chapter as a result of being part of a smaller sisterhood, Our chapters range between 20 – 45 members at any given time and chapter. Lastly, our chapter dues are much less since for the most part Multicultural organizations do not carry the financial burden of maintaining privately owned sorority houses and other large expenses that come with large membership numbers.
How time consuming will the new member education process be?
Pledging any Greek letter organization is a very serious, life-long commitment. Our sisterhood is a way of life that is centered on our Seven Pillars of Excellence. Once a Gamma Eta, you will be a Gamma Eta for life. We believe that after the completion of the New Member Education Process is when the real “pledging” begins. We expect that our possible new members will be dedicated and committed to their education process which requires a large amount of their time. However, we also encourage academic success. Therefore, we ensure that academic demands are being met while going through the process.
What is Gamma Eta's stance on hazing?
Gamma Eta's National Executive Council and chapter memberships will in no way tolerate or accept hazing of any kind. We do not believe in or condone any physical or emotional oppression as a way of establishing sisterhood.
What should I do if I want to join?
If you are interested in joining a chapter of Gamma Eta Sorority, contact the New Member Educator at your campus. Also be on the look out for sisters tabling or Gamma Eta sponsored programs to get more information throughout the semester.
What do I do if I want to bring Gamma Eta to my campus?
